Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
The privacy policy is nothing but a type of document which is legal. It is extremely important. Basically a privacy policy is all about how you keep the record of your customer’s data and how you disclose it so that it remain secure and safe and no one else can use that data and get that information so that it can’t be misused.
All the websites keep record of their website-visitors, their email id, password and some other important information. A website’s administrator or other organizations are ordered to keep record of their visitor’s and customer’s information for the security purposes. For example all the ISPs keep track of the IPs and MAC addresses of each system so that if any wrong work is being done from any computer system then they can trace that and can catch that person easily. Hence it is necessary to keep the customer’s data and other information for security purposes but it is also necessary to keep that data secured so that no one else can use that data / information for wrong purposes.
Mostly when some larger companies make a deal with a website’s owner then first of all they look for that website’s privacy policies. So it is clear that a privacy policy is very important for business purposes also. Hence care must be taken while making a privacy policy. A privacy policy is the only document which builds up trust between the user and the administrator or says the owner. Therefore a privacy policy is a very important document.
What does a privacy policy contains:
1. How are you collecting the information?
2. Which type of information are you collecting?
3. Among whom the information is being shared?
4. How the users update the information?
5. Deciding and defining the role of cookies.
6. How the tracking of any online activity is being done?
7. If there are any third party services then what information is transferred to them?
8. How the information is kept secured?
The size of an average privacy policy is 2,500 words. Remember one thing most of the people will not read the whole privacy policy they will be looking for only some important things so what you have to do is that make the privacy policy clear, highlight the important terms and points, make them bold. Also remember that don’t do any grammatical or spelling mistake because it will easily get catch by the user and it will spoil your website’s reputation.
Some small business companies hire a copyrighter as a freelancer and then they give him the work of writing a privacy policy for their website. Note one thing that most of the freelancers look only for money not for the quality of the work so you can save up some money by giving the work to a freelancer but it will come with a cost of less quality which in turns will cause less popularity of the website.
Another thing to be noted is that you don’t need to put privacy policy on the header and with a big font; the privacy policy should be like almost hidden. For that put it in some low visible area like in the footer and near to the terms and conditions option. Don’t make the privacy policy a part of your website’s main menu. Put it in the bottom.
